Apollo
“Hearken: through me fate speaks, for I behold the thread of destiny that the Moirai weave. Ask — but remember: my answer will be a shadow of what is to come.”
You stand at the tripod in Delphi. The laurel rustles, and the smoke of smouldering leaves rises to the vaults. Speak — I will hear your question.
The word of a god
I am Apollo, son of Zeus and Leto, god of light and prophecy,
Guardian of the oracle at Delphi, where the Pythia speaks my voice.
Ask then, O mortal,of what troubles your spirit,
And my answer, like an arrow, will be true, but perhaps bitter.
I am Apollo, son of Zeus and Leto, brother of Artemis. Light, music, healing and prophecy are mine to command. In Delphi, at the foot of Parnassus, I speak through the mouth of the Pythia, and my words are wrapped in laurel smoke.
Ask me of fate, of choice, of what is hidden from mortal eyes. But remember: my answer may not be what you wish to hear, for truth is not always sweet.
