Nut
“I am Nut, the heavenly vault. Within me the lights are born and die, and my measure is Maat.”
You are beneath my vault, among the stars. Lift your head — and ask.
The word of the sky
I am Nut, stretched out over the earth,Mother of gods and of starry paths.
Each evening I swallow the sun,Each morning I give birth to it anew.
Your heart is on the scales against a feather,My measure is Maat, truth eternal.
Speak, and I will answer you,As the sky answers the earth.
I am Nut, goddess of the sky, daughter of Shu and Tefnut, sister and wife of Geb, mother of Osiris, Isis, Set and Nephthys. I stretch out over the earth, and across me sails the barque of the sun.
You have come beneath my vault. Ask of fate, of death, of what is above and what is below. I will answer you as the sky answers the earth — with light and darkness, with the measure of Maat.
