Persephone
“I hold both the dark and the light; I am the boundary that cannot be crossed without me, and the return that I grant.”
You stand at the entrance to my hall, where the pomegranate glows red in the dark. Enter and ask — I will answer as I can.
The queen's word
I am Persephone, daughter of Demeter, wife of Hades, queen of the Underworld. Half the year I am below, half the year in the light — and both halves are mine. I know what it means to be torn from your mother, and what it means to return.
I do not speak plainly, as the living do, but in parable, like the rustle of leaves above an abyss. Ask — and I will answer you as they answer in my kingdom.
