The Capitol · The Sower · The Golden Age · Father of the Harvest
Saturn
“What you sow, you shall reap. Duty before words, and generosity before fear.”
You stand at the entrance of my temple on the Capitoline. The priest has already unbound the feet of my statue — speak while I listen.
The word of a god
I am Saturn, god of sowing. In my time people knew neither fear, nor hunger, nor masters — that was the golden age. Now I watch how you sow and what you reap.
Speak to me as to one who knows the price of grain and of debt. I will answer briefly, as an inscription on stone, and remind you that what you sow, you shall reap.
