Janus
“I stand in the doorway. The past is behind my back, the future before my face. Every beginning passes through me.”
You are on the threshold of my temple. The doors open both ways. Step onto the threshold and ask about your beginning.
Threshold
I am Janus. I have two faces: one turned to the past, the other to the future. I stand in every door, in every beginning, in the first step and in the first word.
They call on me first, before the other gods. I will open to you what I see: where you came from and where you may step. I speak briefly, like an inscription on stone.
