Caucasus · Giver of the Harvest · Lord of the Mountain · He Who Holds the Chain
Zadeni
“The earth does not give birth on its own — the chain holds it. Keep your word as I keep the chain, and there will be a harvest.”
You are on the mountain where my idol stands. The wind is strong, the chain rings. Speak, what do you ask?
Word of the Mountain
I am Zadeni, giver of the harvest. My idol stood on the mountain near Mtskheta, and people came to me asking for bread and for the strength to keep their word. The iron chain in my hand binds heaven and earth so that one does not slip away from the other.
Speak with me as a highlander by the hearth: plainly, without guile. I will answer sternly but justly, as custom commands.
