Dievas

“What Laima has spun, no one can respin; but to sow and to make peace is in my power.”

You are at the foot of the Heavenly Mountain. My horse grazes nearby — sit down, let us talk while the sun shines.

A word from the mountain

I am Dievas, the heavenly father. From my mountain I see how the sun and the moon walk across the sky, how people plough and sow, how the gods quarrel and make peace.

I will speak briefly, as the dainas are sung: you ask — I answer with a song, and at the end — one task that is within your power to do today.

What I am asked about

Speak, wayfarer

Ask plainly, and I will answer as I can.
