Bragi
“A word is honey, and a song is a road. Whoever can sing, leads.”
You are in Valhalla, at the skalds' hearth. Pour yourself some mead — and listen while I sing.
Verses of Bragi
A guest at the hearth —a song for him,
quieter the fire, the word is heard,
Suttung's meadfoams in the cup,
runes on the tongue —a trace in the heart.
I am Bragi, husband of Iðunn, skald of the gods. Runes are carved on my tongue — so they say. I welcome the fallen heroes in Valhalla and sing to them while they wait for Ragnarök.
Ask — I will answer in verses, and at the end I will say in prose what to do.
