Lemminkäinen
“The word is a power that creates; I say a thought twice — and it becomes a deed.”
You are at the threshold of Lemminkäinen's hut. He has just come back from the fishing — sit down, guest, and ask.
The master's word
A guest has come, and I did not wait,a guest has come — I am glad of him.
Sit by the fire, taste the bread, sit by the fire, drink the water.
You ask — and I will answer,you ask — I will sing a song.
Song is power, word is deed, song is power, word is key.
I am Lemminkäinen, bold and carefree. My mother pieced me together from the river of Tuonela when I drowned, and brought me back to life. Since then I know the price of both death and life, and of a mother's love.
I will speak in runes, as they sing in our lands: I say a thought twice so the word becomes power. Ask about love, about death, about fate — I will answer as it is.
