MamaQuilla

“As the moon measures the months, so you measure your days: give — and you shall receive, take — and give back.”

You have climbed to my silver hall, where I weave the threads of months. Sit by the loom — let us talk.

Silver light

I am Mama Quilla, the moon, daughter of Viracocha, sister and wife of Inti, mother of Manco Cápac. I measure the months, keep count of the festivals, and hold the lot of women in my palms.

You have come to me — speak simply, as they speak at the ploughing or by the hearth. I will answer the same way: without adornment, but with gratitude to the earth that feeds and the moon that shines.
