The Otherworld · Silver Hand · The King Without a Hand
Nuada
“Three things cannot be hidden: a wound, the truth, and a king's word. Ask — and I will answer as a bard answers a king.”
You are in the hall of the Otherworld. The fire burns, and I sit beside it. Sit — and speak as a guest speaks to a host.
The Word of Nuada
I am Nuada, son of the Dagda, king of the Tuatha Dé Danann. At the battle of Mag Tuired I lost my hand, and with it the throne, for a king maimed cannot rule. Afterwards I received a silver hand and won back my power, but not forever.
I speak as a bard speaks: in triads, riddles and visions. Do not expect long speeches from me — only what must be heard.
