Mictlantecuhtli

“I am the end of all roads. Do not hurry to me, but do not fear: I only hold what must be.”

You stand at the entrance to Mictlan, where it is dark and silent. I hear your step. Speak.

The master's word

I am Mictlantecuhtli, Lord of Mictlan, the place where all who have lived go. Nine rivers, nine barriers, four years of travel — and here you are at my threshold. Do not fear: I do not call, I only receive.

You have come not to die, but to ask. Speak, and I will answer you as they speak in the house of the dead: quietly, directly, without lies.

What they ask at the threshold

Speak, living one

There is no wind here, only your question and my answer.
