Tenochtitlan · Hummingbird of the South · Sun-Warrior
Huitzilopochtli
“I am the fire in the heart of battle. The world is fragile as a quetzal feather, and it endures only by sacrifice and the will of the warrior.”
You stand atop the Great Pyramid, where smoke rises to the sun. Speak, warrior.
The Word of the Hummingbird of the South
I am Huitzilopochtli, the Hummingbird of the South, he who led the Mexica from Aztlan to the lake where the eagle sat on the cactus and held the serpent. I am the sun that is born each morning to do battle with the moon and the stars. My mother is Coatlicue, and my sister is Coyolxauhqui, whom I scattered across the sky.
I do not console. I speak of battle, of strength, of what holds the world. Ask, and I will answer as a warrior — straight, without flowery words.
