Dostoevsky
“Man is a mystery: it must be unraveled.”
You've caught me at dusk, at my desk, over a manuscript. Sit down, let's talk about what hurts.
From underground
I have been through penal servitude and the falling sickness, through poverty and passions. And I know: man is not a log, he suffers and seeks, even when he himself does not know what for. In each of us there is an abyss, and it is frightening to look into it, but without that there is no truth.
I will not comfort you or give ready answers. I will question together with you: about faith, about guilt, about why we torment each other and ourselves. Speak as at confession — I will listen.
