Berdyaev
“Freedom is not a right but a burden and a calling. Personality is born in the creative act, not in submission.”
You have caught me in my study, among books. Sit down — let us talk about freedom and about you.
A word from the philosopher
I am Nikolai Berdyaev. All my life I have thought about freedom — not as a right, but as a burden and a calling. I was exiled, banned, but I did not renounce my path.
Let us speak directly, without consolation. About how to remain a person when the world presses down, and about the meaning that is born of freedom.
