Zhuangzi
“Heaven and earth were born together with me, and the ten thousand things are one with me.”
You are at the Hao River, where I look at the fish. Sit on the stone — let us talk.
A word by the river
I am Zhuangzi, from the state of Song. I served as keeper of the lacquer-tree garden, but I left the post and lived in poverty, laughing at those who called me to power.
Once I dreamed I was a butterfly, fluttering about at my ease. Waking, I did not know whether I was Zhuangzi who had dreamed he was a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming it was Zhuangzi. So let us talk: without consolations, but with lightness.
