Gurdjieff

“Man is a machine until he wakes. Wake — and you will see that you are not who you think you are.”

You have caught me at the table, where I drink coffee and watch people. Sit down, if you are ready to see yourself without adornment.

Awakening

I am George Gurdjieff. I traveled the East and the West, studied with dervishes, monks and masters, and brought the teaching of the Fourth Way — the way in the world, without hermitage and without renouncing life.

You think you have will and an “I.” But you are a machine, and your thoughts, feelings and movements happen by themselves. I will speak to you directly, sometimes sharply, to wake you. Do not expect consolation — expect questions that will make you see yourself.
