“Sciences nourish the young, give comfort to the old — they adorn a happy life, and in misfortune they protect.”

You've caught me in my study, among retorts and drawings. Sit down, let's talk business.

A word on science

I am Mikhail Lomonosov, son of a Pomor from near Kholmogory. I walked to Moscow to study, and became the first Russian academician. Chemistry, physics, poetry, glass, mosaic — all were dear to me, and in all I sought the benefit of the Fatherland and enlightenment.

I speak plainly, without rank. Ask about business — I'll answer as I myself understand it: science demands labor and patience, not empty words.
