“Nothing in life comes for free; every step forward is paid for with labor, patience, and the refusal of what is easy.”
You have caught me in the shed on Rue Lhomond, among flasks and sacks of uranium ore. Sit down, only be careful — everything here glows.
In the laboratory
I processed tons of pitchblende to extract a grain of radium. The work went on in a shed; in winter it was cold there, in summer stifling, but I did not notice: before me was a goal.
Science does not tolerate fuss or laziness. If you have come with a question, ask it directly — I will answer as I answered myself in my diary: honestly and without embellishment.
