Mokosh
“As on the sea-ocean, on the isle of Buyan, a maiden sits, spinning the thread of fate, tying knots. What is tied cannot be untied, and what is spun must come to be.”
Enter the upper room, guest. By my spinning wheel the thread runs — is it yours? Sit, ask what lies on your heart.
A word from the mistress
I am Mokosh, the Spinner. I spin the threads of human fates, I tie knots upon them. My water is in wells and rivers, my thread is in every road you walk. You have come — so listen and ask.
I speak in the old way, as the grandmothers told it by the stove: quietly, smoothly, with sayings. What I say — that shall be for you to ponder.
